What is LCD projectors, DLP projects?
DLP and LCD are two optical technologies used in projectors. DLP digital optical processing technology is to project the light through the image signal after digital processing.
LCD liquid crystal display technology uses the radio and television effect of liquid crystal to produce images with different gray levels and colors.
In addition to different technical principles, the main differences between DLP and LCD include color capability, contrast, dark picture capability, color separation and reproduction capability. The image of LCD projector has good color saturation, rich layer, good color separation and strong reproduction ability, but the contrast is low and the dark part display ability is weak. DLP projectors have higher contrast, rich light and dark details, but relatively poor color capability.
Projection difference between DLP and LCD
At present, the difference between DLP and LCD projection is not big, mainly because of the different display methods. dlp projection display technology is mainly to do digital optical processing, and the image is processed digitally through DMD display chip first, and then projected through light. It is mainly divided into single-chip DMD machine, two-piece DMD machine and three-piece DMD machine. lcd projection display technology is a liquid crystal display technology, mainly rely on the LCD panel imaging, is mainly divided into a single LCD and three LCD.
DLP advantages: high speed, high speed, small size; Inferior light machine, good color effect
LCD display advantages: good color, high effect, high speed; Disadvantages: The optical machine is large.
DLP and LCD projection technology are the two main projection methods in the current projection industry, and the difference between them is mainly reflected in the imaging principle, color performance, contrast, picture quality and service life.
- Imaging principle: DLP projector is based on digital optical technology, reflecting light through DMD chip, with high efficiency, high brightness, high contrast and other characteristics. LCD projector is through the liquid crystal plate image, can be divided into liquid crystal plate a-si, TFT-LCD, LCOS and other types, which is characterized by good picture quality, relatively small damage to the eyes.
- Color performance: The color gamut of DLP projection is wider and can present richer colors, especially the performance of red and green. In contrast, LCD projection color performance is mediocre.
- Contrast and picture quality: DLP projector contrast and picture quality is high, the projected image is clear, suitable for watching movies. LCD projectors have a relatively low contrast, and the projected image may produce halo.
- Service life: The life of the DLP projector mainly depends on the DMD chip and the color wheel, which can generally be used for many years and is still stable and reliable. The LCD plate life of LCD projectors is relatively long, and the service life also varies by brand and technology.
- Price: The price of DLP projectors is relatively low, suitable for users with limited budgets. The price of LCD projectors varies by brand and model, but they are generally more expensive.
In summary, DLP projectors and LCD projectors each have advantages and disadvantages, and the choice of which method depends on the specific needs of the user and the use of the environment. When choosing a projector, you also need to consider other factors such as light source, lens, maintenance costs, etc.
